Snow, Snow, and More Snow...

We had a very snowy but good weekend.  I don't know what the official snowfall was but I would guesstimate it to be 10 to 12 inches.  Now, for those of you that don't know our Josie, that is about how tall she is!  So, like a good dog daddy, Dustin always clears off a spot for Josie to go to the potty.  Of course, she doesn't want to use the potty in that spot and insist on following Dakota out into our snow filled backyard.  Dakota is such a good big sister.  She always makes sure to put her face down into the snow in order to clear a path for Miss Josie.  It is really quite sweet.  The other thing Josie really gets peeved about in the winter is all the snowmobiles.  Our house backs up to the trail.  She seems to think that the snowmobiles have no right to get so close to her yard!!!  It is so tough being a little dog:)  It doesn't bother us a bit.  Just another day living in the area of Lake-Effect snow. 

We are under another winter storm watch for Monday night into Tuesday.  We'll have to see what the next storm brings.  Hope all of you are staying cozy and warm!

It's a Tundra!

So, we went to get our Christmas tree last night and burrrrr...it was so cold.  The temperature was a whopping 15 degrees without the wind chill factored in.  Who knows how cold it really was?!?!?!?

I took a few pictures of the decorating festivities and will post more once we are finished.  However, the first picture is for Camryn and Ellie.   At Halloween, Maggie randomly asked me if I have ever dressed Josie up in a costume.  When I asked her why, she told me how Camryn and Ellie thought this would be a great idea.  (I think they actually wanted to dress their dog, Cloe, up but Maggie told them that people usually only dress up little dogs like Josie.)  Against Dustin's wishes, I bought a Christmas outfit for Josie this morning.  As you can tell from the pictures, she really loved it.  Hee, Hee!!!

I am pretty sure, if we could read her mind, it would be something like..."Merry flippin' Christmas!"

I bought a medium which is supposed to fit dogs that weight 13-20 pounds.  Let's just say it was a little snug.  I think it is just all of her fluffy fur.

I am off to figure out what I am going to wear for Holiday Ball tonight.  Do you think it is a problem that I have yet to get something?  I guess I am not worried since I have about a gazillion black dresses from previous years.  If I don't find somehting, surely one of those will work.

Today is Dustin's mom's birthday.  Happy Birthday, Dorothy!  I hope your present finally arrives in the mail today:).

 

Tuckered Out

I think this picture says it all...we are all just tuckered out.  Not because we have been doing too much but because emotionally adoption can take a lot out of you, if you let it.  We are determined to move forward and keep living our lives and to not let the process get us down. 

This is a big week.  We will be taking a road trip to meet another birth mom on Tuesday.  We are meeting her about four hours away, however, she actually lives about 5 1/2 hours from us.  We spoke with her the other night and had a great conversation.  We are certainly grateful for another opportunity but really need to mentally prepare ourselves for the next step of our adoption journey.  We now know that nothing is final until the baby is in our arms and our birth mom has signed the paperwork.  So, please be patient with us, we do not plan on sharing as much information this time.  Your prayers, thoughts, and positive vibes are very important and needed, so we will try to share more as we become more comfortable with things. 

Baby Bear is 10 Years Old!!!

O.K. I don't typically make a habit of making my dog's birthday blog worthy...but she it 10 today!!!  She was our first baby and has been a huge part of our family for a whole decade.  She is the only dog I know that will respond to a plethora of names i.e. Dakota (her give name), Kotie, Bear, Kotie Bear, Bearsie, Velvet Ears, Baby Bear, or even Grey Face.  She is a good dog that has tremendous love for both of us.  Well, let's be honest, she was a little testy when I moved in all of those years ago and invaded her space.  For example. she literally chewed up an entire couch one corner at a time.  However, now we now know how to cohabitate with daddy and do so happily.  I recently read a quote that reminds me of our dog we brought home all of those years ago..."Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about little puppies!" 

Tonight I went to a "Mom's Dinner Out" at the club.  Now, I know what you are thinking...you aren't even a mom yet and are already heading out for dinners.  But, let me tell you, tonight I connected with two ladies who have baby girls that are between three and four months old.  These little girls will be great playmates for baby girl at the pool next summer.  You can't make these connections too soon!!!

Princess Josie and Queen Kotie

We recently purchased some new furniture for our living room and decided to buy a special doggy bed for our puppies while we were at it.  Dakota, our yellow lab, will have nothing to do with the lovely doggy bed...however, Josie, our sheltie, has found it to be quite comfy.  So, Queen Kotie has found her usual spot on the couch next to daddy and her highness, Josie, rests her head upon the princess bed.  You know what they say about sleeping dogs:)
